Music for Two Percussion and Two Pianos (2018)
"Music for Two Percussion and Two Pianos" was inspired by the director Jim Jarmusch's Five Golden Rules of Filmmaking. With the technique of imitation and imporivation, this peice presented the ideas of "There Is No Rules" and "Nothing Is Original."
While writing this piece, it was a kind of rebelliousness in facing my composition. I wondered why I have to follow the structure of music. there was no rich harmony color in this piece, and I didn’t care whether each note is in any scale or mode, the motive material was also fragmentary. I just wanted to throw those rule aways, think irrationally and only write down the true voice of myself.
This peice selected to premiere at 2018 TNUA Percussion Ensemble Fall-Winter Concert, TNUA Concert Hall.
